MEET JUDGE V. T. McRae
Judge McRae has dedicated his life to service as a soldier, an attorney, and now as the Chief Judge of Rockdale County. He has fought for justice on the battlefield, in the courtroom, and on the bench. Today, he seeks the continued support of the people of Rockdale County to carry that mission forward.

Judge McRae and his wife chose to raise their family in Rockdale County, where they have remained deeply engaged in the life of the community.
Together, they have held leadership roles in local government, particularly in the areas of legal affairs and education, as well as in business, civic organizations, and youth development.

For Judge McRae, mentoring young people through coaching is more than a pastime; it is a calling. He has coached high school basketball, travel teams, and recreational baseball, basketball, and soccer, considering this work his ministry.
Born and raised in the Church, Judge McRae is a proud member of Springfield Baptist Church, where faith and service continue to guide his life and leadership.



Judge V. T. McRae brings a wealth of real-world experience to the bench, shaped by decades of leadership in military service, corporate law, government, and private practice. His diverse background gives him a unique and balanced perspective on justice, rooted in integrity, discipline, and service to others.

Military Service: A retired Army JAG officer, he served as a Senior Legal Advisor and was awarded the Bronze Star for his exemplary service as an Iraqi War veteran.

Judicial Service: Judge McRae currently serves as the incumbent Chief State Court Judge and has previously served as a part-time Magistrate Judge, bringing deep judicial insight to every case.

Corporate & Government Law: His legal career includes roles as a federal prosecutor, Assistant Solicitor General, defense attorney, business law expert, and corporate executive, offering a comprehensive understanding of the legal system from all sides.

Community Commitment: Judge McRae is a dedicated volunteer youth coach and a passionate advocate for veterans and military families, continuing his lifelong commitment to service beyond the courtroom.
