V.T. McRae Announces Candidacy to Retain Position as Chief Judge of Rockdale County State Court

Retired Army Officer and Dedicated Community Advocate Brings Decades of Proven Leadership and Experience to the Bench


Rockdale, GA – Judge V.T. McRae, currently serving as the Chief Judge of the State Court of

Rockdale County, announces his candidacy for a full term in the upcoming election. Appointed by Governor Brian Kemp, Judge McRae is dedicated to ensuring justice, enhancing community service, and implementing innovative courtroom solutions for all.


"I have dedicated my life to service—as a soldier, an attorney, and now as your Chief Judge. I fought for justice on the battlefield, in the courtroom, and on the bench. As a devoted husband and father, my faith guides me in my commitment to justice and community," said Judge McRae.


Judge McRae, a retired Army Judge Advocate General (JAG) OHicer Army and recipient of the Bronze Star. He possesses extensive legal experience, including positions such as Magistrate Court Judge in Rockdale County, an Assistant Solicitor General in Gwinnett County and Federal Prosecutor. His diverse background in military, corporate, and community service provides a well-rounded perspective on justice.


As the Chief Judge, Judge McRae champions "innovative and restorative justice," asserting that justice should be fair, compassionate, and forward-thinking. He endorses pre-trial diversion programs for first-time offenders, hearing them opportunities for education and rehabilitation with the goal of reducing crime and promoting safer communities for all.


Judge McRae held his kickoff fundraiser on June 21, 2025, at Coaxum's Low Country Cuisine in Conyers. There was great enthusiasm for Judge McRae's vision, with live entertainment and great food!
